Half Eagle, Half Human

4th day after lasik operation.... Finally, think it's the best time to use my lappy to update my blog... I shall now describe the operation (for those really interested to know how it's done) before I forget.... :P

Because I opted for intra-lase (meaning using laser to cut the cornea instead of using knife....
This 1, I'd would highly recommend as you will never want to see a knife cutting your cornea, but the shortfall.... $1k additional damage for both eyes

Before entering the operation theater, the nurse will clean your eye area... Using iodine (around the eye area on the skin), some eye drops, and also the anesthetic eye drop...

Thereafter, proceeding to the operating bed and getting ready to cut the semi-circular flaps on the eye...First, Dr put a circular rubber ring on my eyeball (outside the iris area)... Following that, I heard he say "suction on", "cutting the flap now", "20 secs", "5,4,3,2,1", "suction off".... All these while, I din feel any pain @ all and it took like 1-2 mins for 1 eye... After that, he proceeded the procedure on my right eye and started the same process....

After all these 'cutting', he told me to go to the waiting area to rest... making sure that the flap actually able to close back properly (because somehow I got steep eyeballs, where I think there's some concern there)

I went to the waiting area (somehow, vision is abit blurred, coz the cornea is open lorr) and rested there... I think I was there for like 20 mins, and within that, every 5 mins interval, nurses will come and check my cornea it is able to close properly and without air bubble....

Somehow, the other guy (who did the 1st op procedure after me, went in first) since my left eye has still some air bubble within it.. Most of my time there was spent, waiting..... Waiting a further 10 mins for the guy to finish....

Following that, Dr ask me to proceed another room because he needs to do some "marking". Somehow because I got more complicated problem on my left eye.... 150 short-sightedness, 200 astig and 5 x degree of change... Therefore, the marking is for the 5xdegree of change...

Thereafter, we proceeded back to the operating theater and went thru the same process on eye cleaning again.... But this time round, air-con was colder and blanket is provided.... Dr asked me to concentrate on the laser red light.. He then used a hook tool (with ability to dispense eye drops) and started to flip the cornea flap... For the 1st sec, it was completed darkness but thereafter, I could see the laser quite clearly.... During this period, his assistant was keying the inputs for my eye contours... Dr then asked me whether I'm ready for this it.His assistant den shouted out "4 segments", "2 more segments", "10 sec...... 5,4,3,2,1".. During the process, be expected to smell some "chao ta" smell.... :P

Once done, Dr uses the hook tool and cose back the flap.... Thereafter, lubricated my eye ball and the most interesting part is he used a paint brush (small 1 la) to paint my eye lid with it and some lubricated solution.... Soooo cute....

After that, he operated my left eye and everything's the same except the assitant this time shouted "8 segments", "starting now"..... During this moment, I got shock and if I don't remember wrongly, I actually figeted.... Damn... Maybe that's why my left eye till now still abit blur blur one....

Anyway, for those who are interested to go for lasik operation... Do note of the following coz these are some considerations you wanna know before doing such a brave thing...
1) Be prepared to spend about $4.5k ($1k extra for intra-lase) payable by 0% installment plans by some participating banks for 3/6/12 months
2) Pre-op tests, which will determine whether you are suitable for lasik
3) Try to do one eye @ a time.... coz during the op, you need to open both eyes... As for me, my 1st operated eye (right) couldn't open (no strength) most of the time...
4) Be brave and focus!!! The laser is very visible and the size of it is big... You need to concentrate on the centre of the laser... The keyword here is not brave but FOCUS!!! Once you can do that, perfect eyesight is waiting for you...

I personnally think it's more dangerous to wear contact lens den to go for lasik op... Moreover, you'll enjoy new vision, like me

For those who are interested in doing a lasik op as well, pls feel free to check with me who my Dr is.... He very pro 1.... :P Anyway, I did mine @ TTSH Eye Clinic...

Stay tuned till next week when more eye tests to be done.... Maybe will update my eye power now.... :P

Now, with a runny nose, warm forehead, listless eyes, body aching but hyer active mind, I wonder what will happen tonight..... :(

Good To Go

Wll, went for my eye checkup yesterday @ TTSH eye clinic, passed all the tests, and doc says I'm good to go... With blessings from everyone, including my boss's (without his, I cannot proceed further lor), I've made my Lasik booking on the 23rd.. Doc told me success of normal eyesight is 98% and perfect eyesight 80%... The gauge he gave, good or bad, I dunno... But according to Abaling, the same doc told her the same also... Her case?? She's better then perfect, actually she got 'Eagle eyes' now... Haha :P

As for me, no contacts lens for the week before ops, 1 week leave (away from work, :P) and hopefully, turns out to be good :D

Oh, by the way,I'm doing both eyes on the same day....
